ACT II--John Tarbarrow's store; Barney; Solomon Isaac the peddler; Barney takes a snooze; Tarbarrow plans revenge on Ben; Barney is taken in charge by Bridget; Cider proves a little too strong for Sally; treachery; Ben accused of theft. ACT III--Oil well on Squire Gray's farm; Alice and John, more threats; Jack's story; Bridge McGuire; John Tarbarrow attempts to foreclose the mortgage; Sally holds the Sheriff at bay; oil struck; the mortgage canceled.
