This was Monkey, the Muppet Dog and the official Solomon Valley Chronicles "Gravin' Dog". He was such a goofy looking mutt, my niece nicknamed him "the Muppet dog" because she said he looked like he was made out of the spare parts of four different dogs.

He was a survivor. Before my son and I adopted him in 2001, he had survived physical and verbal abuse as well as having a bungee cord tied around his neck. Despite his past, he learned to trust and love us. Four years later, he disappeared from the farm where my (then) new husband and I were living. We thought the coyotes had gotten him or he had been run over although we never found his body. Three years later, I saw him running down the street in Morland, 22 miles from where he disappeared!! To me, he was a miracle...twice over.
